The Terrain
Winterplace Ski Resort is the perfect place for beginners to learn to ski and more advanced skiers and riders to improve their technique or just spend some time having fun with family and friends. Our runs have 100% snowmaking, so even if mother nature can't get it to snow, we can. For the non-skiers in the group, we have a snow tubing park - no special equipment needed.

Snow Tubing Park: Largest Snow Tubing Park in WV with 2 Carpet Lifts and up to 14 Lanes of Cool Fun!
Snow Tubing Height: Children must be at least 44 inches or taller to snow tube.

A photo from an article in Ski South - Winter Guide in the early1980's when the resort first opened. The SECOND ski resort to open in Ghent, WV. One of the most notable things mentioned in the article are the ticket places: $20 weekend rates and $12 rentals. Also, Winterplace, referred to then as "Winter Place", opened with 16 slopes.
...And Now
A photo taken from the same vantage point in 2024. Winterplace has been going strong since 1983, almost 50 years. Many things have changed but many are still the same. We are the same charming mountain that we were in 1983, now with 28 slopes and a Snowtubing Park. We are still just 5 minutes off of I-77. We are still independently owned and operated.
