Take a lesson!
Learn-To-Ski or Ride Guarantee!
Like anything, you'll improve the most when you receive some guidance. Winterplace is a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America and we use the American Teaching System. This is a proven teaching method that will teach you how to ski safely. We promise you'll know how to ski or snowboard, or you can take the class again Absolutely Free!

Get The Basics Down!
Learn how to turn and stop on our dedicated gentle teaching slope and how to get on and off a ski lift. Now that you got the basics down, hop on one of the chairlifts and enjoy all the gentle beginner slopes. Now you are really skiing.

Trail Signs
Beginner runs are marked with a Green Circle, those are the easiest runs. Blue Squares are for more difficult and Black Diamonds are the most difficult. Do not attempt to ski beyond your ability!

Getting Around The Mountain
Head over to Chairlift #1 and make a few runs down Highland Run. When you are ready to try something new, come above the beginner area and pick up either chair #2 or #8. From these two chairs you will find 6 different easy trails. Spend some time playing on these.

Head on over to Chairlift #4 and check out Panorama / Glades and Country Roads. Next try out Chairlift #2 or #8, these will lead you to Buttermilk and Milkshake. Spend some time playing on these trails.

When you are ready for a break, take the Chairlift #3 or #9 back up and come down Buttermilk to Milkshake. That will bring you to The MountainHouse. You can stop for lunch or just grab some hot chocolate to warm up. It is a great place to watch other skiers, boarders, and snowtubers in the Snowtubing Park. Plus, check out the skiers and riders in the newly expanded terrain Park!

When you are ready to go again, go up Chairlift #3 or #9. This will bring you to the top of the mountain. Be sure to take the Ridge Runner trail, since the other runs are much more difficult and you never want to ski beyond you're ability level. From Ridge Runner you decide what is next! You can head back to the same Chairlift and do it again, or go all the way back down to the base area (where the Resort Center is located) by taking Ridge Runner to Buttermilk to Country Roads or Panorama / Glades to Chairlift #2. Then go have some more fun!
